Abstract: The rising life expectancy has led to an increase in age-related pathologies, including dementias, as Alzheimer’s disease (AD). AD has cognitive impairment as its main clinical manifestation. However, 80% of AD patients also are presented with a range of behavioral and psychological symptoms, referred to as neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS). These symptoms are linked to accelerated cognitive decline and negatively impact for quality of life of both patients and their caregivers. This study aimed to investigate the presence, severity, and relationships of NPS in healthy individuals, patients with amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment (aMCI) and AD patients. Additionally, the aim was to identify lifestyle habits, emotional states and life stressors that may influence these symptoms, to prevent them or facilitate the development of new interventions for their reduction.
